How far is Martha’s Vineyard from Cape Cod?

As the crow flies, Martha’s Vineyard is about 3.5 miles from Cape Cod.

The two most common ferry routes (via the Steamship Authority) are from Woods Hole (Falmouth) and are about a 7- or 8-mile ride depending on if you land in Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs. We believe that it’s for that reason that many websites and guides report the distance between Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod as 7 miles.

So if you’re a crow, a really good swimmer, or sailing your own vessel in the shortest distance possible, we propose the 3.5-mile option! The best route would be from around the Nobska Lighthouse in Falmouth to the top tip of West Chop in Tisbury! You can see what that looks like at the image here.
